Family Law
Wilberforce Chambers Family Team are a well-respected highly committed team of barristers. We are all members of the FLBA, the specialist bar association for family lawyers. We are drawn from a range of backgrounds and some of our members are former solicitors on the Children Panel.
We are known for our sensitive, efficient and friendly approach to professional and lay clients, our negotiation skills and our effective advocacy. We pride ourselves on the excellent working relationships that we maintain with fellow lawyers and the court staff in the court centres within which we regularly appear.
We accept instructions in both publicly and privately funded work. We regularly act in public law proceedings for parents, local authorities and children. In private law proceedings we assist in the resolution of residence, contact and financial matters. We have experience of Forced Marriage cases.
Our experience in acting for people at their most vulnerable has led us into the field acting for those individuals affected by the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and The Court of Protection. Thus most members of the Family Team are also members of the Mental Capacity Team.
