Professional Reputation

  • Cathrine was awarded the Blackstone Entrance Exhibition and Nicholas Pumfrey Scholarships by Middle Temple in 2009.  She was called to the Bar in 2011.
  • She has practised at Chambers since successfully completing her pupillage with Carol Trimmer and Charlotte Baines in 2012.
  • Cathrine undertakes instructions in all common law fields.

Criminal Law

  • Cathrine prosecutes a variety of offences on behalf of several Prosecution agencies including the Crown Prosecution Service and the Humberside Probation Trust.  She is a member of the Crown Prosecution Service Advocates Panel and has recently accepted an invitation to continue in this role for the 2016 – 2020 panel.
  • Cathrine is regularly instructed on behalf of the Defence in both the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts.  She is developing a solid practice in this area, covering a broad range of offences.
  • Cathrine is known for her ability to interact well with clients from a variety of backgrounds.  She has extensive experience in cases involving youths and vulnerable persons as witnesses or lay clients.
  • Cathrine has also dealt with more serious cases in the Crown Court, in relation to charges of fraud and sexual offences.
  • Cathrine has recently been instructed as junior counsel in a multi-defendant fraud case.  She works well as part of a team and has a reputation for being diligent and well prepared.

Family Law

  • Cathrine practices within all levels of the family jurisdiction, undertaking both Public and Private Law work.
  • Cathrine has a reputation in this field, for being empathetic and understanding but equally well equipped to give firm advice when necessary.
  • Cathrine represents the interests of parents, grandparents, children and intervenors in a variety of contested proceedings.
  • Cathrine has previously been instructed as junior counsel in care proceedings concerning allegations of physical and sexual harm.  She has experience of scrutinising and distilling the issues from large volumes of documentation and evidence.

Civil Law

  • Cathrine has developed a small claims practice covering a wide spectrum of issues including road traffic liability.  She has successfully conducted a number of matters within the County Court.
