Francesca Steels recently became a tenant following the successful completion of her pupillage with Sarah Fearon. Before commencing her pupillage at Chambers, Francesca worked as an advocate for LPC conducting a variety of civil law applications and hearings. She accepts instructions in Criminal, Family and Civil Law.
Francesca regularly appears in the Magistrates Court instructed by the Crown Prosecution Service.
Francesca also appears in the Crown Court acting on behalf of the National Probation Service and accepts instructions to act on behalf of the Defence.
Francesca appears in the Family Proceedings Court and County Court. Francesca receives instructions in all areas of public and private law, regularly acting on behalf of the Local Authority and parents.
Francesca has already gained extensive experience in representing parties within care proceedings. Most notably, Francesca was recently led, acting as Junior Counsel to Mrs Gaynor Hall. This case involved acting on behalf of the Local Authority on a highly complex 15 day fact finding hearing within contested public law proceedings. The challenging evidential issues featured in this case included sexual abuse and extreme physical and emotional abuse.
Francesca has acted in private law proceedings involving disputes between separated parents in relation to the arrangements for their children. She has also dealt with injunction applications such as non-molestation orders.
Francesca is available to accept instructions in a range of Civil matters including but not limited to small claims hearings, stage 3 hearings, infant settlements, mortgage possession applications, return of goods and charging orders.
