Humber Bridge Sportive
Wilberforce Barristers were proud sponsors of the Humber Bridge Sportive on Sunday 10th June 2018. The event began in Hull with routes of varying lengths and was a great success with a number of members taking part.
Cycling on behalf of chambers were Richard Thompson, and Rebecca Miller and her family. Francesca Steels helped organise this event on behalf of Chambers and Joanna Hawkett was there to cheer everyone on. We are grateful to the family supporters of members of Chambers who literally “got on their bikes” alongside some of our Barristers to raise funds for the Humber Bridge Sportive fantastic local charities. However, the biggest praise must go to our Barristers’ children who wanted to do their bit. Our youngest was only 6 and all of the children did extremely well, with Sam and Jake Hawkett finishing as two of the first riders home. Despite some confusion around mile 14, which led to a number of people cycling an extra 4.5 miles, all members made it back safely and with smiles all round!
Carol Trimmer who recently retired from Chambers also joined us on Sunday to take charge of the Ulceby food station which was en route. The event was in aid of the following charities: The Ellie Penrose Fund, Families Together Service, Bundles of Joy, Special Stars Foundation and Cure DM CIC.
Thank you to all those who took part and to those who supported our riders along the route! Look for the extra photos on Twitter.
