Richard Wright Q.C. and John Thackray successful at Murder trial thumbnail

Two of Wilberforce Barristers Criminal Law Team secured an acquittal at a murder trial that took place recently at Hull Crown Court. Richard Wright Q.C. and John Thackray represented Abdulla Haydar, one of three Defendants accused of the murder of Mateusz Szleper. Mr Szleper was killed on 14th February last year in an alleyway off West Parade, near Spring Bank. Mr Szleper was stabbed numerous times in a sustained attack. The DNA of a Co-Defendant, Augustine Sula was found on the handle of the knife used in the killing. After the 17 day trial at Hull Crown Court, Haydar was found not guilty. Sula was convicted and the jury could not reach a verdict in relation to the third Defendant.
