26 April 2023

Cathrine Kioko-Gilligan was instructed by the Crown Prosecution Service.  She prosecuted two men, who had barged their way into a flat in Hull.   Scott Thomas restrained a female using tie wraps, placed a gag in her mouth, made threats of violence and assaulted her.  His co-defendant Colin Mellors assisted by preventing the complainant from moving.  When the complainant’s partner returned home Scott Thomas held an iron to his face and demanded the return of a package.

The defendants were both convicted of two counts of robbery unanimously by a jury.  Scott Thomas was sentenced to a total of 15 years imprisonment, with an extended licence of 4 years.  Colin Mellors was sentenced to a total of 8 years imprisonment.

The defendant Scott Thomas was represented by Julia Baggs, instructed by John Robinson & Co Solicitors.
