Mrs Cathrine Kioko-Gilligan represented one of the Defendants involved in a five week-long trial before Mrs Justice Foster; the trial related to a County Lines Drug Conspiracy between Hull and London and Murder of a Hull man.
The Defendant Mrs Kioko-Gilligan represented was charged with Conspiracy to Supply Class A drugs and Attempting to Pervert the Course of Justice which involved the disposal of a mobile telephone left at the scene belonging to the Defendant charged with Murder. Relying on the statutory defence contained within the Modern Slavery Act 2015, the Defendant was successfully acquitted of the Drug Conspiracy allegations.
In addition, despite the Defendant’s fingerprints being found on the mobile telephone, Mrs Kioko-Gilligan also secured an acquittal to the Attempt to Pervert allegation.
