Four members of the criminal team have appeared in a lengthy trial before HHJ Bury at Hull Crown Court.

Stephen Robinson, leading Michael Masson, represented a man accused of serious sexual abuse of two children and rape of an adult.  Julia Baggs, leading Chloe Ogley, represented his female co-accused. The allegations included multiple rapes over a number of years.   Both defendants also faced charges of cruelty.

The Court heard evidence from three children, with cross examination having been recorded in advance of the trial under the new section 28 procedures. During the trial, the Court also heard evidence via live link from another jurisdiction in addition to evidence from a number of other witnesses.

The defendants were convicted after trial and sentenced to 33 years and 8 years imprisonment respectively.

Both leading counsel were complemented by the Judge on their effective and skilful defence of what was a very complex case.
