It has been a great week for our Criminal Team.
We had good results from our CPS regarding applications:
Dale Brook is now Level 4.
Michael Forrest, Holly Thompson and Oliver Shipley are now level 3.
Natalie Dean and Ashley Lambert-Jefferson are now level 2.
Connor Stuart has successfully applied for a place on the RASSO Panel.
On top of that we had some fantastic feedback from the CPS for Julia Baggs. Julia successfully prosecuted a female defendant for RASSO offences:
‘I just wanted to provide positive feedback for the Counsel briefed on this matter.
Julia Baggs was briefed quite last minute on this matter and she has been brilliant.
We had a case conference the week before trial and all issues were discussed.
This was a difficult case as the defendant was a female, uncommon with RASSO matters.
Julia was fantastic in dealing with the complainant, and her opening was incredibly meticulous in highlighting to the jury to remove the stigma of female perpetrators charged with controlling and coercive behaviour.
Guilty verdicts were returned.
I would highly recommend briefing Julia for future RASSO matters if not done so already.’
Well done to Julia and all those who received successful upgrades for the CPS Advocate Panel!
