On 25th October Wilberforce Barristers hosted the LFJB Conference at The Doubletree by Hilton in Hull. This prestigious family justice event was supported by our visiting Family Division Liaison Judge for the North East, Mr Justice Cobb, who addressed the 170 strong delegates towards the beginning of the day. The Conference took place towards the end of a visit by Mr Justice Cobb to the Humberside area commencing Monday this week.
The Conference was opened by our very own Designated Family Judge, His Honour Judge Clive Heaton QC and addressed during the morning by Cafcass Assistant Director and Chair of the LFJB, Hilary Barrett. The delegates comprised judges, magistrates, barristers, solicitors from private practice and local authorities, social workers and Cafcass/children’s guardians. We listened to some amazing presentations during the day including from Dr Brock Chisholm, consultant clinical psychologist on the impact of traumatic memories on the family, from the Family Justice Young People’s Board and from Zoe and Aaliyah, two brave and inspiring young women, from Reign, a collective of survivors of child sexual exploitation.
