Junior Barrister’s Clerk

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a member of our clerking and administration team.

We are looking for an ambitious person to assist our busy clerks and to be trained in all aspects of clerking duties including taking bookings, checking court lists, maintaining written and computer records, dealing with telephone queries and answering and sending emails.

The successful candidate will from time to time also be required to cover reception, typing and administrative duties including delivering documents to the court and other legal organisations. The ideal applicant will be smart, enthusiastic and confident both on the telephone and face to face and will have regular contact with member of chambers, other barristers, clerks, court staff and solicitors. Some experience working in court administration, solicitors offices or in any other law related entity would be an advantage but is not essential.

Normal working hours will be 9.00am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday with one hour for lunch. Holiday entitlement will be 20 days per year rising one day per year after five years employment up to a maximum of 25 days per annum.  The anticipated salary will be above the living wage but will reflect a junior clerking position.  However, salary increments and career progression will be reviewed annually dependent upon performance.  We hope to recruit an individual who has the ambition and drive to progress in this specialist role. Applications in writing including full C.V. to Phil Paxton, Practice Manager, Wilberforce Barristers, 7 Bishop Lane, Hull, HU1 1PA or by email to ppaxton@hullbar.co.uk

Closing date for applications is Friday 25th October 2019.
