Abigail joined Chambers as a full tenant in October 2023, having successfully completed pupillage under the supervision of Michele-Stuart Lofthouse and Joanne Jenkins.

She now accepts instructions in all aspects of Family and Criminal Law. Abigail has a growing practice in both areas and is experienced in dealing with vulnerable clients.

Prior to commencing pupillage, Abigail worked for a Local Authority, a solicitors firm specialising in Family Law Act injunctions and as court staff to the Manchester Arena Inquiry.

Abigail has acted pro bono as an education advocate for a charitable organisation, representing families and children in school exclusion hearings, including Governor Disciplinary Hearings and Independent Review Panels. As part of this role, she advised parents on the legality of school decisions and on potential Grounds of Appeal.

Family

Abigail has developed a busy and emerging practice within public and private law proceedings. She regularly appears on behalf of Local Authorities, parents and CAFCASS. Abigail has experience in dealing with hearings at all stages, including urgent hearings, contested removals, fact-find hearings and final hearings.

Notable cases:

KMBC v H [2024] Led junior representing the applicant Local Authority in a care case. Non-accidental injury of a child alleged, with consideration given to expert paediatric evidence.

L v Y [2025] Abigail represented a mother in private law proceedings. Following a two-day finding of fact hearing, findings were made against the respondent father, including threats to kill in the presence of a child.

Abigail also accepts instructions from the court as a Qualified Legal Representative.

Crime

Abigail regularly appears in the Magistrates and Crown Court, both prosecuting and defending. Abigail has experience in dealing with a wide range of offences, including sexual offences, drug offences, dishonesty and violence offences. Abigail has recently defended a youth in the crown court, as well as a youth charged with section 18 GBH.

Notable cases

R v B [2025]: Defended a male of previous good character in a sexual assault trial. Abigail successfully secured an acquittal following cross examination of the complainant.

R v A [2023]: Successfully prosecuted of defendant charged with threats to kill and assault by beating within a domestic context in the presence of children. Abigail sensitively questioned a child witness during the trial. The defendant was found guilty of both offences. 

R v S [2025]: Defended a man charged with section 18 GBH at sentence. Abigail successfully mitigated on the defendant’s behalf, securing a Suspended Sentence Order.

Abigail is a Grade 2 prosecutor.

Bar Practice Course, The University of Law – Very Competent [2022]. Abigail was ranked ‘Outstanding’ in examination in chief, conference skills and opinion writing.
