  • Family Finance Law

Specialist in high-value matrimonial finance and claims for financial provision under Schedule 1 to the Children Act. Maintains a broad practice including Trusts of Land claims. Regularly instructed in intervener claims and cases that involve an overlap between family and civil law and procedure. Represents individuals, trustees and companies, has advised in international cases before the courts in Jersey, Gibraltar and Bermuda. Accepts instructions on a direct access basis.

Sits as a Recorder in the Financial Remedies Court. Experienced private FDR judge and arbitrator. Fellow of the International Academy of Family Lawyers. Member of the FLBA, Chancery Bar Association and Resolution. Formerly panel member of Bar Tribunals and Adjudication Service.

R v R (Divorce: Interim Maintenance: Circumvention of Sanctions Regime” [2015] EWCA Civ 796; [2016] Fam 153; [2016] 2 WLR 127 
concerned whether an order for periodical payments amounted to evasion of EU sanctions against a sanctioned party based in Russia. View case notes

R v B and Capita Trustees [2017] EWFC 33 [2017] 3 FCR 519 involved significant findings of conduct, litigation misconduct and fraud. View case notes

AB v CD (Jurisdiction: Global Maintenance Orders) [2017] EWHC 3164 (Fam) [2018] 2 FLR 150; [2018] 1 FCR 199 considered the jurisdiction of the court to make global (‘Segal’) orders. View case notes

Arbitration

Alexander has been appointed as the arbitrator to resolve several arbitrations in financial remedy and TOLATA cases.

Private FDR

Alexander has conducted dozens of FDRs as a deputy district judge sitting at the Financial Remedies Unit in the Central Family Court, as well as other Family Courts, and also undertakes Private FDRs.
