Prior to joining Chambers, Amber worked for various firms of solicitors in the North East, notably as a Prison Law advocate and a Police Station accredited representative. Amber has also had the pleasure of teaching as an associate lecturer at Northumbria University on the LPC.
Amber acts regularly in the Crown Court, both prosecuting and defending, in a range of matters. She fearlessly represents the interests of her clients, grappling comfortably with complex issues. Amber gives sensible and pragmatic advice.
She is comfortable dealing with vulnerable defendants and witnesses. Familiar with mental health and learning difficulties, she is able to navigate such and ensure her clients are represented fairly.

R v T (2024) appealed sentence – secured reduction of sentence for defendant from 8 weeks to 36 days, making the defendant time served.
R v Y (2023) secured adjournment to investigate suspected ADHD of defendant awaiting sentence for GBH.
R v K (2022) secured suspended sentence for defendant convicted of multiple counts of fraud and theft against elderly complainants.
R v C and M (2022) secured acquittal for defendant accused of possession with intent to supply class A substances following a 3-day trial at Hull Crown Court.
R v W (2021) secured suspended sentence order for defendant convicted of grievous bodily harm and theft.
R v B-M (2021) secured acquittal for defendant, who was a career foster carer, faced with charges of assaulting a child and a public order offence, raising self defence to the charges against her.
R v G (2021) raised legal arguments for a defendant and secured adjournments to resist incarceration in a male prison, where the defendant did not have a gender recognition certificate but had transitioned to female.
Amber has a busy practice appearing in both private and public matters. She also has experience of being led in complex public cases.
She uses her skill of analysis to rationally identify the real issues in a case and deals with them in her relaxed manner. She is realistic, level headed and manages client’s expectations.

Notable Cases:
CYC v B, S, S (2023) resisted findings in a public case for an intervenor accused of harming a child.
HCC v M, K (2023) represented the Local Authority and obtained findings of physical abuse including unlicenced circumcision of a child following a four-day hearing.
NELC v S (2023) led by senior counsel representing a Children’s Guardian in a case involving multiple complainants of historic sexual abuse.
M v D (2023) representing an applicant with a child experiencing gender dysphoria. Secured order limiting respondents to indirect contact only.
L v L (2022) secured findings of domestic abuse against the respondent and secured no contact order.
K v K (2021) secured findings for a male applicant against female respondent of domestic abuse, resisted counter findings.
NLC v D (2020 – 2021) led by senior counsel for the Local Authority in case lasting several weeks with multiple child complainants of sexual abuse and multiple alleged perpetrators, in which findings were made.
