• Cathrine was awarded the Blackstone Entrance Exhibition and Nicholas Pumfrey Scholarships by Middle Temple in 2009.

Cathrine has developed a strong and varied criminal practice both prosecuting and defending. Her experience includes dealing with serious offences including dangerous offenders as well as complex multihanded cases encompasing offences of fraud and drugs.

Cathrine has a hard working and meticulous approach. She proactively manages her case load and is undoubtedly client focused.

Cathrine has extensive experience in cases dealing with youths; vulnerable defendants and witnesses. She is well known for her approachability and down to earth attitude and interacts well with clients from a variety of backgrounds.

Notable Cases

• R v D et al 2016 – Multi-handed prosecution trial in respect of offences of Cheating the Revenue. This case was influential in the review of the banking statutory provisions and the development of the Psychoactive Substances Act 2016.
• R v D & D 2019 – Autistic Defendant. Successfully argued for the use of an intermediary during the course of a Newton Hearing which was exceptionally granted.
• R v L 2020 – Secured an acquittal despite the Learned Judge and the Crown Prosecution Service concluding that the Expert Evidence as to the causation of the injuries was inconclusive.
• R v H 2022 – Secured an acquittal after a retrial despite the Victim and all of the Prosecution witnesses in the case being police officers.
• R v K 2022 – Arson. Secured a conviction after a 3-day trial.
• R v P 2024 – Home invasion Robbery 11 years sentence imposed. Secured a conviction having provided directional advice in relation to the obtaining of forensic evidence.
• R v S – 2024 – Instructed to represent a youth Defendant charged with murder and successfully persuaded the Prosecution to accept a lesser charge of violent disorder (Led by Craig Hassall KC).
• R v C – 2024 – Voyeurism. Secured a conviction after successfully opposing an application to dismiss.
