A highly effective advocate with excellent client handling abilities, Dale is consistently instructed in the most serious cases by both the defence and the prosecution. He has gained particular experience in homicide, serious violence, drugs and sexual offences.
He has been a led junior in a number of high-profile murder cases and has led successfully in complex sex cases involving multiple complainants.
He is a grade 3 prosecutor and a pupil supervisor.

Notable Cases
R v R (2022) Prosecuted an attempt murder involving youths and multiple stab wounds.
R v S, M and Y (2022) Prosecuting junior to Richard Wright QC in ongoing murder case involving the main defendant who had fled the jurisdiction. Trial due on remaining defendants. Issues include secondary participation, joint endeavour, mental health problems.
R v R (2021) Defence junior led by Oliver Saxby QC in high profile murder and rape case involving a missing Hull University student whose body was later found in the River Humber.
R v C (2021) Defence junior led by John Elvidge QC in murder case involving complex psychiatric issues including diminished responsibility and provocation.
R v L (2021) Leading counsel for defence, led Michael Forrest. Four-week trial involving cross examination of fourteen complainants of serious sexual offences. Defendant was acquitted of all non-consensual sexual offences including rapes and sexual assaults.
R v M (2020) Defence in non-recent sexual offences involving two complainants.
R v S (2020) Defence of non-recent sexual offences where the Defendant had previously pleaded guilty to sexual offences against the complainant’s sister which were admitted as bad character. The defendant was acquitted of all offences.
R v B (2020) Defence junior led by Jason Pitter QC. Murder involving complex issues of causation and hearsay.
R v J (2016) – Represented the defence in a case of serious historic sexual abuse. The defendant was acquitted of the most serious offences and the Crown offered no evidence on the rest.
R v A and others (2016) – Defended in multi handed human trafficking case. Dale’s client was the first on the indictment and as a result of his cross examination of the two complainants the Crown offered no evidence against his client for human trafficking at the conclusion of the prosecution case.
R v E (2016) – First on the indictment in a multi handed case of serious violence involving an assault with a baseball bat. The Defendant was acquitted after trial.
R v H (2016) – Prosecuted a confiscation case involving the recalculation of the available amount 7 years after the original hearing. The case required complex legal submissions and detailed skeleton arguments. The court made the order for recalculation in full.
R v A (2014) – Prosecuted case involving supply of class A drugs and possession of criminal property. The defendant was convicted after a trial of all counts.
